JOHN'S COMPUTER HELP

Don't type in your passwords, have your browser remember them

This security tip was written on 13 April 2018.

When you sign in to a website your browser will ask if you want it to remember your password and fill in the password prompt whenever you sign in next. It's convenient, but did you know it's also a safety feature?

If you visit a fake sign-in page that will steal your password, your browser won't automatically fill in the password since it knows the site is fake even if you don't.

So make sure to type in your password once, let your browser remember it, and be suspicious when your browser doesn't enter it for you.
