JOHN'S COMPUTER HELP

Use a different password for each task you do

This security tip was written on 25 February 2018.

Use a different password for each task you do. One for banking, one for email, one for social media, one for shopping, and maybe more if you're the busy type! If you can't remember them all, just write them down and keep them somewhere safe.

What you absolutely don't want to do is to use a single password or variants of a single password for all your online accounts. Online services often don't keep your password safe, and almost never tell you if they've been hacked! Using a single password for all your tasks means someone stealing your social media password also has access to your email and banking passwords.
